Public administration is failing to cope with the exponentially growing number of foreigners arriving in Poland, according to a recent report published by the Supreme Audit Office.

The main problems mentioned by NIK include:
– staff shortages in offices and high employee turnover, which negatively affects the service of foreigners;
– extension of the period for legalization of stay – from 64 to 206 days;
– lack of efficient and timely service;
– lack of developed rules for communicating with clients who are foreigners;
– lack of a document defining the state policy in the field of shaping migration;
– lack of procedures defining the service of incoming foreigners;
– lack of effective supervision by the Ministry of Interior and Administration;
– lack of formalized supervision policy over the Head of the Office for Foreigners;
– lack of formal knowledge about foreigners leaving the territory of the Republic of Poland;
– carelessly prepared National Action Plans for Employment;
– improper service of foreigners in all provincial offices.

How many foreigners are in Poland?

It is difficult to make an unambiguous estimate of the number of foreigners residing in Poland, as the institutions compiling such data collect and present them in a slightly different way.
In general, it can be assumed that at the beginning of this year more than 372,000 foreigners had valid documents confirming their right to stay in our country.
